HOAville is an online community of in-depth insurance information and news for homeowner associations in California. As part of the Prendiville Insurance Agency, HOAville delivers accurate and unbiased insurance information for Board Members and Property Managers alike.

Prendiville Insurance Agency has grown over 25 years to be one of the largest Farmers Insurance Agencies in the entire Country. As a nationally recognized bureau, Prendiville Insurance Agency is part the elite Farmers Insurance “Presidents Council.” With offices in Dana Point and Rancho Mirage, Prendiville Insurance has serviced the entire Southern California Region for over a quarter century.

Patrick Prendiville started Prendiville Insurance Agency in 1988 after graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Mr. Prendiville has earned the “Community Insurance and Risk Management Specialist (CIRMS)” designation from Community Associations Institute (CAI). Over the years, Patrick has been actively involved in multiple chapters of CAI. Highlights of Mr. Prendiville’s involvement with Community Association Institute’s local Chapters Include:

  • Awarded “Outstanding Service Award”
  • Past Chapter President (Orange County)
  • Board Member of the chapter for six years (Orange County)
  • Committee Chair of the “Legislative Support Committee” (2009-2010)
  • Committee Chair of the “Education Committee” (2013-2014)
  • Awarded “Speaker of The Year”
  • Committee Member of the “Membership Committee” (San Diego)

Matthew Lawton has been working in the insurance industry for over 10 years and specializes in Homeowner Associations Insurance. Not only has Matthew earned the “Community Insurance and Risk Management Specialist” designation from Community Associations Institute (CAI), but he has also attained the “Certified Insurance Counselor” designation from the National Alliance. Matthew is the only insurance agent in California to have earned both of these in-depth, HOA-related insurance designations.

When Matthew isn’t speaking to Board Members about insurance issues, he

can be found sitting with the Board Members. Lawton is currently a Board Member of Palm Court HOA in Rancho Mirage and he also sits on the Board of Directors for the Community Associations Institute Coachella Valley Chapter.

Over the years Matthew has written numerous articles for HOA publications and has won many awards including Business Partner Of The Year, Committee Chair Of The Year, Member Of The Year and Author Of The Year.

Adam Malner has been with Prendiville Insurance Agency for over seven years and is a visionary who identifies, nurtures and creates custom insurance packages for Homeowner Associations. As a Retired Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff, Mr. Malner takes great pride in providing honest and accurate insurance coverages which results in safer and financially secure communities. Adam resides in North Orange County with his wife, three sons and daughter.

Kristen Pratt started with Prendiville Agency in 2001 in the receptionist position and has progressed to her current position of Commercial Lines Manager where she oversees day-to-day operations for all commercial clients. Beginning in the receptionist position allowed Kristen to learn all aspects of client service as it relates to commercial insurance. Kristen obtained the Risk Management Certification through the Association of Professional Community Managers. Over the years, Kristen has volunteered her time for numerous Community Association Institute events.

Farmers Insurance has been located in the historic district of downtown Los Angeles since 1928 and per AM Best is “A-Rated” and has the highest-attainable Financial Strength Rating of “XV ($2 billion or greater).” Farmers Insurance is the dominant carrier in the Homeowners Association Insurance Industry and there has never been a year when Farmers Insurance has not been a reliable provider of insurance coverage for HOAs ― this is a fact that no other insurance company in the industry can boast. As you can imagine, insuring homeowners associations can be a challenge. Most insurance companies cannot single-handedly take on such properties, and perhaps that is why so many HOAs have several different insurance companies. If your Association is well-maintained, managed and has no issues, there is no reason for your Board and Management to have to deal with separate claims departments, billing centers, and insurance policies which are most likely not hand-in-hand with each other.
